Talking with Tami: Ben hey there how are you buddy! I love you! You are such a delight to see on the red carpet! Tell me how you got into photography?

Well, Tammie its a long story. Prior to Photography I worked for IBM
and later Hewlett Packard for 12 years. Photography has always played a
big role in my household growing up. My father actually introduced
Photography to me and my sister at a very young age. He was always taking
pictures of us capturing and documenting our every move on family
vacations
, holidays and school events. Back then my sister and I were
always saying, “Why is Dad always taking our picture? We didn’t understand
why but now as adults when we look back at the old images and can
appreciate what he did.” After graduating from college, I moved to Atlanta
and dibbed and dabbled with photography on the side. I started out just
photographing family members and close friends for the love it. I later
got the itch to break out and start up my own company with the
encouragement of my wife. Photography has always been my passion and I’m
still amazed that I basically took a hobby and turned it into a lucrative
business. It has been history ever since.

TalkingWithTami:  I can tell you love your family! Is it hard trying to provide for your
family, meaning covering events, traveling, then trying to find balance at
home?

Well, photography is not my only source of income. I have been so
blessed to be able to do what I love and still be able to adequately
provide for my family. I am a family man first then a business man. My
family will always be my main priority and they are always considered
before I take on any job. I have turned down jobs because they did not fit
in at the time for my family. I have a two year old son at home and he
means the world to me. My parents were always there for my sister and I
growing up and I vowed to be the best father that I can be by never being
absence from anything that my son decides to get involved in example:
Sports, Community Activities and Church. I am getting pretty good at
prioritizing and managing work life balance because it is crucial in this
line of work, not to mention having a very understanding wife…lol. My
wife Monique is my best friend and having a good relationship is key. I
can say that I am happy and blessed…

TalkingWithTami: What kind of photography do you like doing?

ben evans3 226x300 Pink Spotlight Interiew:Photo Images by Ben!

I have done Fashion and Editorial work, but I must say that I love Event
Photography the best. I like to call myself a Photojournalist Event
Photographer…lol. I like to tell a story and capture an event for the
person who did not or who was not able to attend. My photography tells a
story from the exterior to the interior of an event. I have been told by a
number of people who have said, “Ben, I wasn’t even at the event, but
after looking at your photos, I felt just like I was there.” That makes me
feel good because I want to tell a story and through this style of
Photography I can.

TalkingWithTami:  Make a Wish! I can put your photography in one upscale magazine for one year! Which magazine would you choose and why?

Oh my, there are so many that I would love to see my work showcased in,
but if I had to choose one I would have to say “O” Magazine. Hey, Oprah is
the ultimate! The reason I say this is becuase that would really open some
doors for me not to mention having the opportunity to photograph some of
Orpah’s Gala events. I would also love to have the opportunity to
photograph some events for Tyler Perry and his Atlanta Studio.

TalkingWithTami: Name one person, place or thing you have not photographed, that you would like to and why?

ben evans5 300x225 Pink Spotlight Interiew:Photo Images by Ben!

It’s funny that you ask me that question because I had a dream just the
other night. I dreamed that I was asked to photograph President Barack
Obama and his family on the lawn of the White House. I captured the First
Family
all sitting on the green lawn of the White House grounds and it was
Spring when the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom. My dream was so vivid
that I could literally smell the blossoms in the air, that’s how real this
dream was. Photographing the President and his family would be the
ultimate pinnacle of my career! The reason I say all of this is because
that portrait would reinforce the values of family not only in the
African-American community but in general.
