My Condolences To The Family Of Fashion Lover Ms.Kaplan

This was such a weird situation and at first I didn’t want to write anything but I felt so bad. I attended the Joanna Mastroianni fashion show during fashion week. As we all rushed in to be seated, I pulled out my camera to start shooting some of my favorite looks from the runway. The show hadn’t quite started when photographers started snapping photos of celebrities in the front row. Ms.Kaplan was photographed smiling just minutes before the show started. Reality star Toccara Jones was seated one person away from Ms.Kaplan. I was seated directly across from them.As the first model came out I was shooting when I noticed Ms.Kaplan lean over onto another lady’s lap. I thought it was very strange. Next thing I know, she started to slide down out of her seat. The models kept walking but I knew something was seriously wrong.

Before I did nails, I was a nurse’s aid that worked in a nursing home while in high school. I took a course for two years called, Diversified Health Occupations.I took care of the elderly all while I was in my junior/senior year. It gave me so much joy to be around them.I thought I wanted to be a registered nurse and even went to college to pursue my dreams.Once I interned at nursing homes for a few years, I changed my mind quickly. I hated to see people pass especially when I got attached to them. Thats why you hardly see me post about people who pass unless I knew them personally. It makes me too depressed.

At the show,people were tossing water bottles to the volunteers to give to her but I knew it was something else. Two security guys rushed quickly to her aid and picked her up and took her out the show. The show still went on.It happened really quickly. I felt helpless like I was in a bad dream when you can’t scream. I wanted to run across the floor but I knew that would not work.Her face was ghost white, and it was nothing I could do. I pray for her family and I know Ms.Kaplan is in a better place now. Atleast she passed doing something she loved. She was a fashion lover, socialite and staple in NYC. I kept getting emails from people confusing fashion icon Iris Apfel with her,but NO that was not her. I snapped several pics with her in the background but only chose to put up this one.I didn’t know Ms.Kaplan but may she R.I.P. so sad.
