I had to walk away real fast the other day when I dropped my baby(she is 14 years old, I’m still in denial) off to have dinner with her friends. They were all headed afterwards to their first homecoming dance. When I got in my car I balled my eyes out so bad! She could see in my eyes that I was about to cry! She immediately texted me and said, Mom are you ok? I responded, yes but I wasn’t.
Time waits for noone and I just still have this image of my daughter Dootie(her nickname, real name Tyra, she’s going to kill me when she reads this) sitting on the kitchen counter eating a ritz cracker watching me wash the dishes. That was our favorite thing to do when it was just the two of us. She is my everything and I was so impressed when I finally got a chance to meet her friends. I knew one of them but had heard about the others from phone conversations etc.
They all pulled up wearing matching colors which my daughter coordinated lol. She is so darn bossy and I wonder where she gets that from(coughing) lol. The girls looked like little ladies and it made me happy to know that all the girls carried themselves so well. It took the pressure off of me when today soo many young girls are lost. For weeks on end my daughter talked about this dog on homecoming dance and what she was going to wear, what shoes, hairstyle, makeup and so on! She finally decided on a blue sparkle dress from Cinderella, Betsey Johnson black heels and my accessories. I put her hair up in bun with blue rhinestoned barrettes.
I was kinda glad it was over because lawd she worried me to death! I’m so proud of my daughter and what she is growing up to be! Keep up the good work Dootie, I love you so much and pray over you daily that God protects you! xoxo
