Neighborhood kids

Today was back to school for my kiddies and you just don’t know how excited I am! I am a firm believer in kids going off to school and getting out of my hair for a few hours. I cant imagine home schooling my kids. Its not that I have really disobedient kids, I just like to have a few hours to myself! You have to remember I live in Atlanta with no family here and my hubby is a long haul trucker, so mama be needing a break. Well today I got it and I’m about to go celebrate with some other moms like we do every year lol.

My son was up first at 6am! He never gets up that early! He was showered, dressed and even brushed his teefus without me having to yell at him lol. He looked so handsome and I grabbed my camera to head to the bus stop with him! He started fussing like, “no mom, your going to embarrass me!” I still went up to the bus stop and snapped a few pics. He was happy and then the bus never came! Are you serious?

The bus usually comes pretty early and I just cant believe after 35 minutes the bus driver still never came, yikes! One of the other neighbors who was sitting in her car, said that she would take the kids. So they went off to school. Later the bus driver came and it was 8am! A whole hour late!

My daughter was next to leave and she was too pretty in pink! Thats one of her fav colors too! She didn’t want me to help her with anything! Thats how these tweens are now a days! I asked her if I could take some pics of her and she had to think about it, is she for real? So we went up to the bus stop and we snapped a few pics too. She told me, mom I’m excited to go back omg! I cant believe my baby is in 8th grade! Time sure waits for noone. We are all happy and thats what its about! Happy Back to School and Happy Monday everyone!

Yesterday was my kids open house! You know I’m winding up to get ready to do the cabbage patch dance on Monday morning, lol! We started off driving the 2010 Wheego Whip electric car to my daughter’s school first. She was so nervous and excited to meet her new homeroom teacher and see old friends. This is Tyras first time having a male homeroom teacher plus he is her science teacher. She said he seems cool.

She looked over her schedule and we walked around to see some of her fav teachers. We met her principal and he said, I don’t think we’ve ever met Tyra? I said, “well I guess that’s a good thing” lol. In middle school, its set up a lil bit different. They just email you the kids grades and if there is an issue, then there is a phone call. I got one phone call last year about her being sick, that was it lol. I never met any of her teachers besides the homeroom one, strange.

I remember school like it was yesterday and I was a good student. The other kids would tease me and call me teachers pet all the time lol. I was a lover of pink even back then and would get picked on for wearing the color so much. High school is a whole other blog post lol.

The next stop was to my son’s elementary school. He said,”oh my mom, I have bubble gut!” “I’m so nervous and hope that I like my teacher!” This is his last year in elementary school he’s in the 5th now, time flies! He’s on the 2nd level now, so he is on the “cool” floor and not with the babies lol. His teacher seemed nice and we filled out all the paperwork and went over supply list.

I found out that “puffy head” is in his class this year! If you read my blogs, puffy head was my sons crush for like 2 years. The fell out, so he says but when he saw that she was in his class this year, he started grinning. I was blank starring, let’s say jealous mom! Smh! He should only has eyes for the mama! smh!

The teacher told him to pick out a seat and  ofcourse he put his name tag next to hers, I side eyed him so bad lol. Puppy love gotta luv it! The schools were filled with students,parents and school officials and I was just as excited as they were. I will have an updated post on Monday, as I get out my lawn chair early in the A.M with camera in tow and my pepsi and I wave them both off to school! Happy Friday!

I woke up this morning to hear my hubby coming through the door. He was walking towards me with a huge smile on his face. See, my hubby knows I get a kick out of Valentine’s Day lol. It’s my favorite holiday  and I love celebrating it! He then whipped out flowers with a big card. I loved the card because he always finds funny ones.

I thought that was so sweet of him. I gave him a card and told him I wanted to treat him to breakfast. As we got ready to go and headed out the driveway,the kids popped up of nowhere and pulled up next to us from a sleepover lol. They were like,” hey where are you guys going,yall trying to ditch us? That was the end of our date right there lol.

The kids piled in the car and said,hey we want to go to Golden Corral. My hubby and I just looked at each other. It was not our choice of restaurants to go to but what were we going to do lol. We laughed and headed to the restaurant they wanted to go to. I gave my kids goody bags and they looked inside and said,is this it?

We just shook our heads. I said,” yup, that’s it kiddos, we treated you to breakfast and you guys weren’t suppose to be home on “our” date and this is the thanks we get,beat it”! It’s always fun here at The Reeds home and my kids make me laugh so much but anywhoo Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours! Keep it pinky!

Peanut Butters eeeww!

Sunday my kids begged and begged me to do something with them for family day. I said, ok what do you want to do? They decided they wanted to go rollerskating lol. I was laughing so hard because I remember when I use to live for rollerskating in the 80′s. We have a long history of rollerskaters in my family. My mom,aunts and uncles all rollerskate.

We use to do the all nighters and hang out at Dunkin Donuts afterwards. It was fun times! Skating has changed alot since then. I also remember we would not be caught dead in “peanut butters”. Peanut butters were the brown rental skates that nobody wanted to be caught dead in! Most of the rental skates back then went one way and you went another, plus you were looked at as a huge nerd.

Nothing like a guy rolling up to you with peanut butter skates on! He could be the most handsome guy in the skating rink but if he had on those skates, no way was he getting the time of day lol. My kids now wear rollerblades lol. Those are hideous looking too but way better than the peanut butters lol.

So I got up and took my kids skating plus my daughters bff. As we were driving I thought about the girl that worked at this particular skating rink that had a pink beetle bug. I was so jealous of her when I first started taking my kids to this rink. As soon as we got there I didn’t see her car. The manager said she got married and found a “real job”.
